Penikese Island School Student Photos
July 2022
It is a privilege to be among the women invited to teach at the Penikese Island School's Science & Nature Camp for Girls, with the aim of ending gender imbalance in the sciences. Each photography workshop reminds girls of their heritage as scientists and artists with an ancient and encompassing connection to nature. After all, it was women and children who first recorded their exterior and internal worlds through the cave paintings and engravings of the Paleolithic.
It's fitting that photography, the first scientific and artistic tool equally accessible to men and women, can so help us see our interconnectedness with humans and nature and for these girls, deepen their appreciation of unique and unspoiled natural environments such as Penikese Island.
Each one of you inspire me, so thank you to each and every one of you!
