Slow & Ethical Fashion
The fashion industry is notorious for its waste and negative impact on the planet. It heavily relies on child labor, violating children’s right to education, freedom, and protection. And it bears the human, health, and social cost of being the second most polluting industry, with environmental consequences that violate the right to a safe and healthy environment for many children.
How do we begin to reverse this trend? We purchase from slow and ethical fashion brands who consider the processes and resources required to make clothing, advocate for buying better-quality garments that will last longer, and value the fair treatment of people, animals, and the planet along the way.
It’s a privilege to lend my lens to Blossom Schmitt’s Florawear, Martha’s Vineyard-based slow fashion label, whose message is clear: “We love the world around us, and we’ll do anything to embrace it, protect it, and ensure that you look and feel at home in it.”
